Nature Drawing and Watercolor Painting
Go from drawing stick figures to creating detailed illustrations of plant life in this 2 part series with artist/biologist Katie Iverson. Learn basic drawing skills making use of line, form and shading to illustrate plants. Each class will involve instruction and hands-on work. By lesson four, you will be drawing life-like plants. In the second half of the course, you will learn basic watercolor painting skills, enabling you to finish the series with a completed painting. The instructor will provide materials for the first class meeting.

Instructor:
Katie Iverson’s artwork has evolved around her love of nature. After receiving her M.A. in biology from California State University, Fullerton studied at the University of Arizona Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and learned the art of scientific illustration from Don Saynor. Iverson paints in several different media, and sculpts in clay and bronze. Her works have been exhibited in many venues throughout Arizona. Iverson has taught courses in drawing, watercolor and acrylic painting, hand building in clay, and linoleum block printing at De Grazia Little Gallery, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute, Mountain View Retirement Village and the Tucson Botanical Gardens.
