THE
LEARNING CURVE Winter/Spring 2010 VISUAL ART & WRITING WORKSHOPS
Field Sketching Around Tucson
Sketching is a wonderful practice that can enhance our understanding and experience of a subject: this class offers a unique opportunity to closely study the native landscape of beautiful Tucson as well as some special historic buildings such as the San Pedro Chapel of Ft. Lowell and the San Xavier Mission. Learn how to observe and quickly render the shape, texture and scale of various desert plants and gain confidence in drawing simple architectural perspective while we absorb the beauty of our southwest, emphasizing an eye to hand fluidity of expression. Mastering the rendering of atmospheric perspective through line and value, varied markmaking and methods of combining dry and wet media will offer participants an exciting range of interpretive skills. Emphasis will be on quick, efficient sketching and note-taking techniques. Beginners to Intermediate welcome.
