Six Stories in Search of an Audience

Come and experience a slice of life created by several of the most famous short story writers in American literature.  We’ll start with some tools for literary analysis, then  use them to discuss six well-loved stories culled from literary anthologies and magazines.  Discover even deeper levels of knowledge and appreciation of each writer’s craft as we share insights with one another.  All six stories are available on Google.com.  If you do not have internet access and need copies, please let us know when you register.

We will start with Hemingway’s Soldier’s Home.
Please print and read the story before the first class.

The other stories include:
Eudora Welty’s Lily Daw and the Three Ladies
Jack London’s To Build a Fire
Katherine Ann Porter’s The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
Alice Walker’s Everyday Use
Annie Proulx’s The Half-Skinned Steer

When: Tuesdays, Feb 23 – Mar 30, 1:30-3:30pm
Where: The Windmill Inn, 4250 N. Campbell Ave.
Cost: $135 (6 sessions)
