The Feminine Influence: America's Innovative
Women Art Collectors

Learn about the powerful personalities and impressive accomplishments of some of America’s most influential art collectors. Their legacy is found throughout the country and abroad in museums that helped to shape the world’s understanding of visual art and continue to provide leadership for its future.

Week 1: Isabella Stewart Gardner – The Fenway (Boston); Louisine Havemeyer - The Metropolitan Museum (New York); Berthe Palmer – The Art             Institute of Chicago (Chicago); and The Cone Sisters – The Baltimore Museum of Art (Baltimore).
Week 2: Abby Aldrich Rockefeller – Museum of Modern Art (New York) and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center (Williamsburg); Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney – The Whitney Museum of American Art (New York); Dominique de Menil – The Menil Collection (Paris and Houston) and Peggy Guggenheim –  The Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice).

Cost: $55 (2 sessions)

Instructor: Barbara Churchill, M.A., completed her master’s degree in art history at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her research skills have been an asset to the University of Arizona Museum of Art, and she has been a frequent lecturer at the Tucson Museum of Art, the Phoenix Art Museum, and the Foothills Community Foundation in Scottsdale, AZ
