Instructor: José Luis Gomez was catapulted to international attention in 2010 after winning first prize at the International Sir George Solti Conductors’ Competition in Frankfurt.
Step into the world of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet through the musical imagery of Prokofiev’s romantic ballet. This ground-breaking work created a new intersection between music and character, creating recognizable musical “footprints” to tell the story. Hear from new Tucson Symphony Orchestra Music Director José Luis Gomez and understand this unique score from the conductor’s perspective. Also meet Anthony Constantino (a TSO Young Composers Project alumnus), who will discuss his new work commissioned by Maestro Gomez. Luminosity’s Witness, inspired by Tucson skies will be premiered at the TSO Classic 6 concert. A ticket for TSO’s Classic 6 Concert, featuring Selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, is included, making this the perfect February celebration.
