Bella Vivante

Bella Vivante Bella Vivante, Professor Emerita of Classics, University of Arizona, enjoys various creative pursuits: acting and playwrighting; leading customized trips to Greece—two 2020 trips postponed to 2023; and teaching lifelong learner classes on the subjects dear to her heart—Homer’s poetry, Helen in ancient Greek and modern poetry and film, ancient Greek drama, ancient women’s ritual and cultural roles, mythology. In all her tours and classes she presents antiquity as a dynamic, alive period filled with amazing insights. Significant publications include: Daughters of Gaia: Women in the Ancient Mediterranean; as editor, Women’s Roles in Ancient Civilizations; translation of Euripides’ Helen in Women on the Edge: Four Plays by Euripides; and Women, Marriage and the Family in Ancient Greece.
