Marge Pellegrino, an award-winning author and teaching artist, regularly invites students of all ages to be inspired by their own words. Marge has facilitated expressive arts workshops since 1991. As the programing director of the Owl & Panther Project of The Hopi Foundation, she has served refugee families impacted by trauma for the last fourteen years. The White House honored her Word Journeys Program with its Coming Up Taller Award for excellence in afterschool programming. Marge has been writing for more than three decades. Her essays, articles and poetry have been published in magazines, literary journals, and books. Her nonfiction earned an AZ Press Club Award and her poetry won a SandScript prize. Her novel Journey of Dreams won the Judy Goddard Award for young adult literature, and earned a spot on honor lists including Smithsonian Notable Books, Kirkus Best Books, and Southwest Best Books of the Year. Marge is a member of PaperWorks: The Sonoran Collective for Paper and Book Artists and regularly pushes her practice by taking as well as facilitating expressive arts programs in libraries, community settings, and at conferences.
