Writing poetry, fiction, and nonfiction is an act of exploration, of finding meaning beneath experiences. This workshop examines ways of blending multiple topics, of revealing mixed emotions, of juxtaposing the personal with the global, of mixing the past and present. The workshop includes sample readings, writing exercises, and group and instructor feedback to encourage experimenting and taking risks with both techniques and subject matter.

  • capturing emotion
  • finding new connections
  • reading like writers
  • experimenting with techniques and forms
