Warfare has been a consistent part of human history since the beginning of time. No matter the political format of states: empires, nations, city states, or tribes, war has always seemed an option worth pursuing. In its continuous history since 600, England and then Great Britain has been no different. Consider some of the most important battles of British history, whether a victory or defeat. From the battle of Hastings in 1066, the most consequential battle of medieval England, to Waterloo, the final victory over Napoleon in 1815, and the Battle of Britain in 1940, the greatest air victory in British history, we’ll explore the context and outcome of significant conflicts that shaped Great Britain.
