Examine Paleoindian research in North America, with a focus on local sites and regional archaeology of the Southwest. Beginning with the 22,000-year-old White Sands Footprint site in New Mexico and wrapping up with the Paleo-Archaic roughly 6-8,000 years ago, we will take deeper look at major Paleoindian technologies and cultures in the west, as we discuss recent findings and observations from the instructor’s current research around the St. Johns region in Northern Arizona.
